It is a well-known fact that Netgear is an established brand in the network industry. Being a pioneer in the industry, the company always keeps its users on their toes with brilliantly designed products. The Nighthawk C7000 is one such addition to their astonishing product line. You might feel hesitant at first looking at the costing, but rest assured this nifty little investment will pay for itself in the long run.
The Netgear Nighthawk C7000 can deliver speeds up to 1900 Mbps without lag, while intelligently switching between dual bands to minimize interference and maximize speed for many smart wireless devices. It is a perfect option for 4k streaming and gaming.
In this Netgear Nighthawk C7000 review, we will go through every feature and function of the Netgear C7000 router that might concern you, since it all comes down to your personal preference at the end of the day.
If you’ve seen high-end modems, you might be expecting a big device that might take up a lot of space in your establishment. But wait, for such a functionality, the Nighthawk C7000 is a surprisingly compact, sleek, and thin model. It looks good enough to be displayed and will fit right in with your furniture or a gaming rig.
The device is made of black plastic and the edges have LED lights in front, which indicate the functioning and current performance of the router. Now, moving on to the back side, you should be able to locate four Gigabit Ethernet ports, one USB 2.0 port, a coaxial cable port, and the power cable port. Here’s the best part for all of us who think the antennas give the router a weird look: All 3 antennas of the Netgear Nighthawk C7000 are located inside the unit, which adds a lot to its unique and minimalist appeal.
2. Speed and Reliability
After reading this review, our users will be able to see one thing clear as day, and that is the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 C7000 is a well deserving candidate for the initial investment. It’s because there’s nothing more frustrating than lost connections. With the Nighthawk Cable Modem Router advanced features and best-in-class WiFi technology, you’ll reduce interference and enjoy more reliable connections. With the help of its selectable dual-band feature, the router is capable of transmitting and receiving on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies depending on requirements. This provides 2 independent and dedicated networks which allows more speed and flexibility.
Additionally, the device also comes with Beamforming+ technology, which basically, helps the device transmit a focused wireless signal towards a specific receiving device, rather than having the signal spread in all directions from a broadcast antenna. This results in a much more direct connection which is faster and far more reliable.
3. Dual Band Performance
There’s no doubt that dual-band routers perform much better than the single-band routers. While the single-band routers are cheap and suitable for people who are looking for web browsing APP, checking mails, watching videos, etc. The dual-band routers provide longer range and much better signal strength.
This, combined with the AC1900 and 24 x 8 Channel Bonding, the Nighthawk C7000 is capable of delivering up to 600 Mbps and 1300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, respectively. This means, even with high speed plans, the modem is well equipped to deliver the best and keep up during the busiest times. And compared to its competitor Motorola MT7711, it is cheaper with almost the same features.
4. Compatibility and Connectivity
One of the key features of the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 C7000 over Netgear NightHawk C7100V is that it is compatible with all major cable providers. However, it will work with Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirectTV, DISH, and any bundled voice service. In short, the router will work just fine with your ISP as we tested out with our local ISP and it still managed to deliver impressive results.
Moving on the connectivity, since this modem comes with a built-in router, one usually assumes that the wireless performance will pay the price for the all-in-one product. But, to our surprise, the Netgear C7000 performed very well in big homes of roughly 2000-2500 sqft measurements. No doubt the network performance goes down in the farthest corner of the house, but the connection was pretty stable and reliable at all corners.
While this feature is available on many Netgear routers, it’s still a fitting addition to this one. This feature allows USB storage you can wirelessly access at home, free software to easily backup your PC or Mac, wirelessly printing from any PC or Mac and the ability to play, view, listen to, and share your videos, photos, and music on DLNA connected TVs, game consoles, or media players.
The amount of data an average family produces in a day is staggering, and everyone needs a safe space to store said data. Once you’ve set up your Netgear router, you simply connect an external USB drive and you’re ready to protect and share your content with others via WiFi. It’s as simple as that. With the ReadySHARE USB feature and the free My Media feature in the Netgear App, it just simplifies storing and sharing pictures, videos, and music where and when we want to.
Looking back at the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 C7000 Modem Router review, we tried to keep it as simple as possible. The Netgear Nighthawk C7000 is indeed a brilliantly designed model with exceptional features. The fact that not only does the product helps save the rental fee, but it also manages to provide long range and high-speed networks during peak times is an achievement in itself. All these features and capabilities under the price of $200 makes the Nighthawk C7000 a good bargain.
