Since everyone out there wants to install the best Wi-Fi systems at their home or office. Going for the latest technology might be a little less comfortable for an average buyer out there. Because the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology comes in mostly long-range flagship Wi-Fi systems that are too expensive to buy. Hence, to beat the marketplace, Netgear has a pretty good product for their buyers.
Unlike other mainstream brands like Linksys, and many others. Netgear has introduced one of the most affordable Netgear Wi-Fi 6 Mesh technology routers. Well, there are many flagship routers available in the market, but considering the price point and the fact that not everyone needs 6000 Sq. ft. of Wi-Fi coverage, is the Netgear Nighthawk Mesh router any good? Before looking at the main features of the Netgear NightHawk Mesh router, we should take a quick overview of the build, design and other features it offers. As soon as you open the box, you will notice that there are actually two units instead of one. Actually, one of them is the main router system, and the other one works as a Wi-Fi extender. It is totally your choice to use them both as both the units together can cover up to 3000 sq. ft easily. Hence, if you experience any dead zones around your house, you can use the other satellite unit to extend the overall Wi-Fi coverage.
As most modern routers come with many ethernet ports as well as USB ports, it is something that this Netgear Wifi 6 router lacks. On the backside of the main router housing, you get only 1 WAN port to use as the internet input, and the other one can be used to connect your other peripherals such as consoles, PCs, Laptops, etc. In that case, with few extra bucks, you can get a Linksys MR9000 with 5 ethernet ports or Asus RT-AC88U which has 8 ethernet ports.
However, if you have a multi-story house, you might need to install the satellite unit as well to eliminate the dead zones. The best part about the satellite unit is that it works entirely wirelessly and gives the flexibility to connect other peripherals to it using the single ethernet port present at the backside.
As far as the design is concerned, it seems quite modern and antennas are totally hidden inside the units. Moreover, on the top surface, certain air vents are given to cool down this amazing piece of hardware provided by Netgear.
1. Wifi 6
Unlike other famous brands, Netgear decided to put in the latest Wi-Fi technology in a unit that is actually practical in terms of pricing. Since Wi-Fi 6 can offer amazing data transfer speeds as compared to any other generation router, investing your bucks in the Netgear Wi-Fi 6 Mesh router is definitely a good choice.
Like most people these days prioritize the internet more than most other stuff, it has become essential to purchase a good router. Being a tech enthusiast ourselves, we also spend a lot of time streaming YouTube and Netflix in our spare time. And, the fact that this router uses Dynamic QoS technology along with the high speeds of Wi-Fi 6. The Nighthawk Mesh router detects that itself and prioritizes the devices which require more bandwidth. Fortunately, we did not face buffering time while streaming videos. All thanks to the amazing Wi-Fi coverage of this Netgear Mesh router with Wi-Fi 6 technology.

2. Large Coverage
This all in one affordable package from Netgear consists of a router unit and a satellite unit. Hence, if you are choosing this for your household usage or you want to install it in a small office area, it’s the best. As both the units together offer a total coverage area of 3000 sq. ft. It is good enough to cover the whole of your house as well as your lawns outside the home as well.
As most other routers come as a single unit, it becomes quite a challenge for the router to penetrate through each and every wall and offer the same signal strength. However, in the case of Netgear Mesh Wi-Fi router system. All the dead zones are quite easy to eliminate as you can divide the house area into two and place both the units to cover the whole house area. But if you don’t have a huge space and want the same Wifi 6 technology then Netgear Nighthawk AX4 is the best suggestion we can give. It covers up to 1500 sq.ft of the area and gives up to 3Gbps of speed and that too in the same price as that of Netgear mesh.
3. Guest Wifi
According to our tests, it is quite a robust product as it is equipped with amazingly fast Wi-Fi 6 technology that can deliver up to 1.8Gbps of speed. However, as the speed is divided between two bands, the 5GHz band covers less area and offers 1.2Gbps. On the other hand, the 2.4 GHz band covers a much larger area and is capable of providing speeds up to 600Mbps. That seems quite good enough to work for any average home usage conditions.
However, what interests us more is that it also gets a Guest Wi-Fi option that lets your guests connect and enjoy your high-speed Wi-Fi 6 internet without knowing about your password. The amazing part about this feature is that you totally control it using the Nighthawk app on your phones. And, revoke their access to the internet whenever you want.
4. Easy Setup With App
Like most other router systems out there, it seems even more complicated to set up. All because firstly it comes with a pretty unique design that has no antennas on the outer sides. Secondly, as there are two units inside the box, most people can get confused. However, there is an easy way to figure out the difference as the main unit has more Gigabit LAN ports at the backside. And, the main power input port as well.
In case you are concerned more about the setup process, your ISP would have surely provided you with an ethernet cable connection. Just unplug that cable from your previous router and plug it into this Netgear Nighthawk MK62 router. Moreover, plug in the power cables and turn it on. The rest of the setup process is as easy as downloading an application on your phone. Go to the Google Play Store or App Store depending on which smartphone you use. And, download the dedicated Netgear Nighthawk App.
As soon as you download the app, it will guide you to set up the router properly. Not just that, it won’t take more than ten minutes, so it’s a pretty easy task.
5. Smart Connect
Since the Netgear Nighthawk mesh Wi-Fi system is equipped with MU-MIMO Smart Connect and beamforming technologies. The overall system offers you a robust connection throughout the coverage area. Not only that, while the MU-MIMO Smart Connect technology is totally controllable via the mobile app, but you can select devices according to priority basis. Although even if you don’t do it manually, the router is smart enough to distinguish between devices and detect which device requires more speed and bandwidth.
The great aspect of the Nighthawk Netgear Wi-Fi 6 Nighthawk mesh router is that it is capable of providing connection up to a total of 25 devices. Well, it is definitely overkilling for home usage conditions as an average person hardly owns this many devices. However, if we pick this router for office use, the decision is not going to be a bad one either.
Alright! This was all about our personal experience with the Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi 6 Mesh router. And, we can say that it is pretty much a good deal to grab as no other brand offers you 3000 sq. ft coverage and 1.8Gbps speed together in one package. Even if you find one, the Wi-Fi 6 technology still remains exclusive to this router only. Especially in this price bracket. Thus, if this Nighthawk review helped you anyhow, do let us know.
